Okay, here's a question: there is this saying: 'Client is King'. How much King is your client? How far do you go in changing your design for satisfying your client? How often can someone say 'no' to your ideas?

That situation can differ with each client. There are so many facrtors that can come into play.

Do you need the money from the job?

Are they being cooperative while still diggin in their heels on the job?

Are you giving away your personal power by caving in to their demands?

Do you need to be more assertive and confident in presenting your concepts?

Lots of times, we teach clients how to treat us.... and when we are solid in our own creativity and ideas and respect our own talents, we begin to attract clients who will do the same..... a bit Dr. Phil, but I strongly believe our clients reflect ourselves and how we feel about our trade and profession.

Then again, could be totally chewing my shorts......

The client is king to a point. And like Bruce wrote, that point depends on a couple factors. In my case I'm an employee as long as my boss oks it money wise, I do whatever the client wants. I will put my two cents in where I can but ultimately they are paying me to bring there vision to life and that's what I do. Most of the time there is leway and I can general direct where the art is going, but occasionally we get those micro-manager/"oh I think I'm pretty creative and would do this stuff myself if I had the time" types and I just grin and give them exactly what they want, and if it doesn't look great to me, I just don't put it in my portfolio.
